It’s finally here! Last night H&M’s latest and arguably most eagerly anticipated designer collaboration with fashion icon Alexander Wang was launched in spectacular style at an exclusive, star studded event in New York. Since revealing the identity of their annual A/W14 designer collaboration the fashion world has been buzzing about it’s launch, the collection has received widespread critical acclaim and is expected to set a new record for sell outs when it launches in store and online worldwide from the 6th of November. The star studded catwalk launch was attended by the likes of Jessica Chastain, Dakota Fanning and Mary J Blige all representing the brand head to toe of course.
The collection is an all black affair with the performance and sports luxe themes running through every single piece, quite apt that a sports centre was turned into the futuristic athletic track runway for the launch. Wang has managed to create a collection that channels 80’s elements such as oversized puffa jackets and sliders and reinvented them using materials such as leather and neoprene to create a modern twist. I love the heavy use of black & leather throughout the pieces with the masculine styling across the mens and ladies, there’s something so dystopian about it which is really different. Interesting to see the Alexander Wang name used so heavily in the pieces, on some items it’s almost like a print that creates an almost uniform effect.
It’s really exciting now the collection is offically unveiled, now I just can’t wait to see the full menswear lookbook and get my hands on my favourite pieces when it hits stores! See what you think of the unveiling below.
