Summer is finally here, it feels like we’ve been waiting forever for it especially after such a horrible winter. After releasing their full menswear S/S14 lookbook a few weeks ago ASOS have treated us to their latest exclusive ASOS black collection just in time for the first bittersweet summer days. This capsule collection Is always something I look forward to from ASOS and the S/S14 edition is my favourite to date, released every season the stand alone line always manages to bring a unique dose of high fashion to the masses. Combined with the exceptional value for money the brand is infamous for it’s a great opportunity to embrace some bolder items and give your wardrobe a bit of edge.
The collection centres around a beautiful geometric print with clean cut silhouettes, it has a kitsch sci-fi feel to it with it’s grey and white colour palette and underlying uniform elements. It is clearly influenced massively by recent street style trends with a huge emphasis on comfort and wearability, the panelled joggers and structured chested vests paying homage to the sports luxe trend that seems to be around for the long haul. With statement bombers being huge this season the geometric print jacket in this collection is a definite winner, given that every other bomber seems to be floral this is definitely a great way to be bang on trend yet still maintain your individuality. To round off the collection there is a great accessories offering here in the form of backpacks and shoes, the shoes for me are definitely stand out pieces especially the grey monk strap trainers – an unusual mix of smart casual that works perfectly!
Without a doubt one of the strongest menswear collections I’ve seen for S/S14 so far, really refreshing to see something so competitive with high fashion brands at a fraction of the price. And really casual and wearable which is what summer is all about, can’t wait to get my hands on some of this myself and get some outfit post up on the blog! Check it out and see what you think.
