A few weeks ago I got back from the trip of a lifetime and I’ve been crippled with post holiday blues ever since, so I’m using this outfit post as a form of therapy to channel my grief. Last year my best friend of ten years moved to Los Angeles so I popped over for a visit, and my god I love fell in love. I had heard very mixed reviews on LA and having only ever done the East coast I was a little bit nervous, apparently you can’t love both coasts! Definitely not true, I was smitten by the end of the first day. I think it’s a scientific fact that you can’t be unhappy if you’re within eye shot of a palm tree – everywhere we went was so beautiful. We ventured up the coast to Santa Barbara and found retirement goals, hunted our favourite stars on Hollywood Boulevard and lived like big kids in Disney. A very productive trip!
Naturally, I packed a case full of dungarees and rompers which have started to become a trademark of mine, if you’ve not tried one you’ve never known real comfort. I had my trusty rompers from Zara & ASOS and then fell in love with some pink dungarees in Forever 21 and chopped the legs off – making the campest outfit I own. Chuffed. LA is a haven for bloggers with graffiti walls galore, we avoided the pink wall and hunted out some quieter spots off Melrose Avenue – there were so many to choose from. The one downside of LA is how much time you have to spend in a car, driving everywhere started to take its toll – but in a city so beautiful the views were a big silver lining. It took me at least the first week of the trip to try and come to terms with how beautiful everything is, driving up into the hills and seeing the city sprawling out below is something I’ll never forget – California sunsets are mind blowing.
I can’t recommend this place enough and genuinely think there is something for everyone, there are so many places up the coast that feel so different but ultimately very Californian. It also helps that everyone you meet is so welcoming and beautiful, a life in the sun really does people well. I’m just counting down until the next chance I get to go, until next time LA! x
