There is no country more iconic for fashion than Italy – especially when it comes to menswear, and leading the pack is Canali. With 85 years of experience within the family, Canali has become the leader in luxury mens tailoring, the Canali name alone evokes a prestige like no other brand. Founded in 1934 by Giacomo Canali and Giovanni Canali the brand rapidly became a fashion powerhouse in mens luxury tailoring designed and made within Italy. The Canali Tailoring Principle uses innovation to achieve aesthetic perfection, continuously renewing its styles with meticulous attention to detail and the use of premium fabrics. Canali’s status and relevance within menswear are best seen in its red carpet dominance, if you’ve seen a suit at a premiere recently it’s most likely to be from Canali – the likes of Chris Pine, Michael Fassbender and Orlando Bloom have all been spotted in Canali recently.
Below we have the spring/summer 2019 lookbook from Canali which highlights their most recent menswear offering, it stays true to the brand’s heritage but still manages to maintain a modern undertone to keep it relevant within the market. I’ve always been a huge fan of tailoring and love being able to dress a suit jacket down, I love that this collection gives the ability to transition to fully formal to weekend casual only changing one item. The collection offers an interesting mixture of texture and colour, the hues are rich and the fabrication helps the wearer to understand the rich heritage each piece is created with.
There’s such a strong juxtaposition here between a traditional clean-cut suit paired with a minimalist leather backpack, a dapper linen suit refreshed with a crisp white polo shirt for the summer. Creating a collection that is as cohesive as it is adaptable to the wearer, each outfit in the lookbook can be individually interpreted to give a range of outcomes – each of which comes with the Italian excellence and quality Canali is famous for.
