I write this post with mixed emotions, H&M has launched their new Editions collection for men which means the end of my much loved Mens Trend Collection. My wardrobe is at least 80% mens trend and it has been my go to for new threads for the last 8 years, having seen the Edition collection in store it’s nowhere near the same. Silver lining is I will probably spend a hell of a lot less on clothes going forward, maybe that elusive London house deposit can be in sight. The Edition collection focuses heavily on premium materials, a higher quality and a focus on functionality over trends, creating durable pieces for the modern man. Its core range is elevated basics in pima cotton, merino wool and organic cotton – with statement leather jackets, mohair jumpers and premium leather accessories. In terms of style, it is very reserved, with a lot of similarities to the recently launched sister brand Arket. The price points are much higher than trend ever was and without the unique fashion quirks of the former range it will be interesting to see how this plays out in a very competitive market.
