MATCHESFASHION.COM launches an online exclusive capsule collection with Parisian label AMI.
This is the third in a series of digital exclusives designed to showcase the best in global menswear from the luxury retailer. Founded by artistic director Alexandre Mattiussi,
AMI has emerged as a cornerstone of French contemporary menswear in recent years.
The label specialises in casual, chic separates that epitomise off – duty Parisian dressing, for this collaboration Alexandre has designed ten pieces that resonate with this aesthetic, whilst taking inspiration from sport and streetwear. The collection focusses on updating AMI classics – soft cotton trench coats, v neck jumpers and the brands signature pleated trousers have been elevated in exclusive colourways and fabrications. Additionally, t-shirts, striped shirts and knitwear feature the embroidered ‘AMI de Coeur’ signature. New for the season this monogram is personal to Alexandre, originating from the symbol he uses to sign cards and notes to his friends. Exclusive styles featuring ‘AMI de Coeur’ encompass the authentic, youthful nature at the heart of the brand. Further styles include Bermuda shorts in technical wool, slim fit denim jeans and white panelled sneakers. The colour palette is kept light and
fresh in white, cream, beige and sky blue to complete a highly relevant spring summer wardrobe.
‘The Matches guy is someone very aware of style, of quality and of ‘cool’. I wanted to create acapsule that would embody these three things so that it represented both MATCHESFASHION.COM and AMI. Although I didn’t want to feel like the styles when put togeth
er were too overthought: for me it always has to look casual, effortless, spontaneous. Like the guy walking in the street that has something really chic and cool about him. It’s that ‘something’ I’m looking to capture when I design.’
