This week sees the launch of Pull & Bear’s first organic cotton collection for men, launched under the #pullorganiccotton campaign it sees P&B start to promote the ‘conscious spirit’ it believes the brand has. The collection is made up mainly of 6 different fits, each made from 100% organic cotton and an organic cotton basic t-shirt. Given the brand’s young yet fashion focused demographic it’s a great way to spread the message behind sustainable fashion to a highly influential target audience. The fantastic prices reinforce the idea that ethically produced clothing are a viable alternative to standard garments and don’t have to be a stigmatised option that’s normally more expensive and unappealing.
I’ve always been interested in the environmental impact of the fashion industry especially fast fashion, for me the idea of fashion becoming more sustainable through initiatives like this is amazing and It’s great to see a collection like this being offered. Organic cotton is farmed without the use of harmful pesticides and fertilisers that are used in the standard cotton growing process, this means less harmful chemicals end up in the ground and in the garments we wear day to day. Organic cotton production is definitely the way forward for the fashion industry, getting big global brands like P&B on board increases demand that is stimulating the organic cotton industry.
