Last night River Island premièred their amazing fashion film for their upcoming collaboration with infamous design duo Baartmans & Siegel, I was lucky enough to attend the event and was really impressed by both the presentation and the upcoming collection. I’ve always been a big fan of designer collaborations especially those that encourage emerging talent in menswear, for me fashion should always be inclusive so bringing together brands previously unobtainable to the masses and collaborating with high street retailers is an amazing idea.
I absolutely love the styling of both the collection and the film its so dark and authoritarian, it reminds me of the styling in films such as Minority Report, Equilibrium and The Matrix trilogy. The collection is all about leather, dark colours and clean cut, futuristic silhouettes which pretty much sums up my wardrobe at the moment. It really does have a strong domineering feel to it with the underlying uniform and military influences, definitely one of the most aesthetically pleasing high street collections I have ever seen. Combined with the visually stunning fashion film below this really is the most polished high street menswear campaign I’ve seen so far this year, now we just have to wait until September to get it!
