Another mens fashion week has come to an end, with four days of non-stops fashion shows, events and parties the dust has finally settled after London Collections : Men for SS16. High street giant River Island have been a huge sponsor of the event in recent years especially the fashion film events, helping to raise the profile of emerging British designers and mens fashion as a whole. Having been to a few of the events now it’s amazing to see such a spotlight on not only menswear but the process behind some of the huge collections we see, promoting fashion film is an amazing way of creating a new outlet for both producers and consumers. I was really excited to be invited again this year and headed along to the old sorting office, obviously I went for an almost all black ensemble. Black is the new black.
Following on from the announcement of their upcoming collaboration with Christopher Shannon the even was a prime chance to premiere the accompanying fashion film. The 90’s inspired collection launches in September , the throwback vibes are everywhere in the film along with the underlying sports luxe film. I love the set for the video, the use of an abandoned building with cctv screens makes it feel like an episode of spooks with a very British feel. The evening also saw videos from Mr. Hare & Private V.C with each film being completely unique, highlighting the versatility in menswear and the creative freedom that fashion film helps to encourage. Take a look at the featured videos below and see what you think of SS16 in film.
