Yesterday I was lucky enough to be invited to the Whistles AW15 press day in Central London, it felt so surreal given it was on the hottest day of the year so far! I turned up to the venue, a £6.5 million penthouse in an incredible new development on Charing Cross Road. I’ve always been a huge Whistles fan so I was really happy to see them launch menswear a few seasons ago, it is definitely one of the most fashion forward and aspiration mens offerings on the highstreet. I love the clinical styling and the focus on texture, trends and luxurious materials – the futuristic apartment was the perfect setting and really suited the AW collection. Autumn is my favorite season when it comes to fashion, I love to layer and I have a slight addiction / problem when it comes to coats. It was the outerwear that immediately caught my eye in this collection, with everything from over sized wool coats, leather jackets and a beautiful reversible shearling overcoat. It’s very hard to strike the balance between fashion and practicality however Whistles seemed to have nailed it with this collection, it’s not often I find a collection where I want everything and can see my self actually wearing it. Structured shirts, masculine tailoring and fitted basics were stand outs for me in the collection – I could easily create a capsule autumn wardrobe solely from this collection. Given my love of trainers I fell in love with the trio of colourful leather trainers on offer, beautifully crafted and subtle enough to go with so many outfits. Without a doubt one of my favorite collections so far for AW15, it’s just a shame I will have to wait months to get my hands on it!
