Zara has hit a home run with the release of their latest men’s studio collection, stepping away from their fast fashion routes to deliver a stand out premium collection. Embracing current trends with a kitsch twist the studio collection is bold and extravagant, the combination of masculine cuts with a feminine undercurrent works so well – oversized trousers with pleats and work shirts with oversized cuffs being key highlights. Zara has become the world’s biggest fashion retailer, however, their menswear has always felt like an afterthought to their flagship women’s collection – this studio collection shows the tide might finally be turning. Having seen the collection a few times now it really does feel like an elevated offering, limited in number in a superior quality for the price – definitely pieces worth investing in. The collection although small could make a perfect capsule wardrobe, there are enough pieces and themes to create a versatile mini wardrobe with a very strong aesthetic. With the studio collection becoming a seasonal staple for high street brands, it will be interesting to see how Zara’s offering evolves in the coming seasons and with that their menswear as a whole.
